Annual meeting of the South Wales Fire District No. 1 held on January 2, 2022
Paul Rose was elected as Chairperson of Fire District
Fire Chiefs and District Officers were sworn in.
Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No.1 pass and unanimously approve the following resolutions:

  1. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 Accountant shall be Mark Adamchick (salary per hour)
  2. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 Attorney shall be Ron Bennett (salary per hour)
  3. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 official newspaper shall be the East Aurora Advertiser
  4. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 official bank shall be the Bank of Holland
  5. Reaffirms the investment policy and the resolutions that established capital reserve funds and fuel reserve fund
  6. Reaffirms District procurement and purchasing policy
  7. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 approves membership in the association of Fire Districts of the State of New York, and the regional association
  8. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 continue the defense and indemnification for the protection of the officers and employees of the South Wales Fire District (NY LAW 174(6) Section 18)
  9. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 authorize the Chief to send people for training and to expend training funds.
  10. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 shall be governed under (section 176 (11).) NY town law rules for the care and use of all fire equipment and shall be governed by the rules adopted by the Board of Commissioners November 1, 1983 and as amended thereof.
  11. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 sets the date for the regular monthly meetings as the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00pm and a work session two Thursdays before monthly meeting
  12. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 reaffirms and authorizes all resolutions passed and actions taken in the previous year
  13. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 reaffirms and authorizes all financial transactions in the previous year
  14. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 authorizes the secretary and the treasurer to:
    1. Prepare the treasurer’s annual report for the previous year for submission to accountant and approval by the March monthly meeting
    2. Submit the accountants AUD report for the previous year to the appropriate governmental agencies by the March monthly meeting
    3. Review the surety bond for the treasurer at the annual review with insurance agent by the March monthly meeting
    4. File appropriate information with the town clerk and publish this information together with the results of this meeting in the District’s official newspaper and District website
  15. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 names the following as standing committees:
    1. Service awards committee
    2. Finance and Audit committee
    3. Building Committee
    4. Equipment Committee
    5. Records Retention and Foil Committee
  16. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 authorizes the South Wales Fire Company to hold four (4) fundraising activities per year
  17. Be it resolved that travel expenses on behalf on the fire district shall be reimbursed at the IRS Rate in effect at time of travel.
  18. Be it resolved that the South Wales Fire District No. 1 does not support absentee ballots for its district election process

Legal Notice

In accordance with Town Law 175 C, notice is hereby given that the Board
of Fire Commissioners of the South Wales Fire District #1 shall hold a
public election to fill the Office of Fire District Commissioner on
December 14, 2021.   This position will have a term of office from
January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2026.   The election will take place at
the South Wales Volunteer Fire Hall, Route 16 in South Wales, NY from
7:30pm – 9:00pm.   To have your name placed on the ballot a petition
with twenty-five (25) qualified voter signatures must be filed with the
Fire District Secretary no later than December 3, 2021.  Mail all
petitions to the attention of: Fire District Secretary P.O. Box 94,
South Wales, NY 14139.

 

2022 Proposed Budget

NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING

In accordance with Town Law 175 C, notice is hereby given that the Board of Fire Commissioners of the South Wales Fire District #1 shall hold a public hearing on October 19, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. at the South Wales Fire Hall, 6406 Olean Road, South Wales, New York.

This hearing will be held to fully discuss the proposed 2022 Fire District Budget and to receive input from the residents of said fire district on this budget.
